Outstanding performance of the microwave-made MMO-Ti/RuO2IrO2 anode on the removal of antimicrobial activity of Penicillin G by photoelectrolysis

This paper studies the applicability of a novel microwave-prepared mixed metal oxide (MMO-Ti/RuO2IrO2) anode in electrolysis and photo-electrolysis synthetic urine intensified with Penicillin G. Results are compared those obtained using boron-doped diamond (BDD) as anode. In general, both anodes effective terms penicillin removal, combination UV radiation shows clear synergistic effect on degradation G: 420% 355% MMO BDD, respectively. The outstanding performance MMO-Ti/RuO2IrO2 is demonstrated by decrease toxicity reduction antibiotic observed during photo-electrolysis. Notably, generates solutions almost zero residual without effect, lower specific energy consumption than BDD remarkable microwaves-prepared coatings makes them very promising for being used electrochemical treatment sanitary wastes.
